Deer Lodge is one of the colder spots along I-90, with long winters and frequent sub-zero stretches in the wide, open valley. Much of the town's housing dates to the early and mid 1900s, so we see a lot of aging furnaces, older ductwork and homes that have never had air conditioning. Outside town, ranches and rural homes rely on propane and electric heat, and often have shops that need their own system.
